(COMBO) SML-500-1 "Outdoor" Edition + 45 Ft low loss 50 Ohm Coaxial Cable
SML-500-1 "Outdoor" Edition 17,20,30,40 Meter Bands
High Power Outdoor rated Multiband Magnetic Loop Antenna
(Important: requires an Automatic Antenna Tuner such as an MFJ or LDG. NOT INCLUDED)
Easily handles 100 Watts CW (400 Watts PEP SSB)
The process of tuning the antenna for Dx is straight forward and is as follows:
1.- Turn OFF the auto-tuner and choose the desired frequency on the Transceiver.
2.- Turn on the volume on the transceiver and turn over the capacitor on the antenna and find the spot where maximum noise is heard.
3.- Turn on the auto tuner and proceed to auto tune the antenna. This process usually results in a 1:1 swr or very close to it.
After this tuning process, when you search for other stations to Dx, you do not need to perform auto tune until you are ready to transmit on a chosen frequency. Once the frequency is chosen, you press auto tune and get your SWR down to 1:1 or very close to it. Then transmit. (If the auto tune does not tune satisfactorily after a frequency change, go back to No.1 above and repeat.)

Roberto, after only a short time with your SML-500-1 Outdoor mag loop. I wish to compliment your ingenuity and quality craftsmanship in the performance and design of this unique antenna. The setup and user information was straight forward using your easy to follow instructions. Initially, with the antenna situated on a chair beside me here in the ham shack I tuned it for CW operation in the bottom end of the 20M band using 100 Watts output power, and immediately contacted a station 800 miles away who gave me a 559 signal report, and I returned a 579 report to him. That was with the loop aligned N/S and then I heard a California station barely audible until I swiveled the antenna to favor E/W which brought his signal up to about 449. I did not attempt a contact with him, but was quite impressed with the directivity of this compact, user friendly design. On one occasion, also on 20M I contacted a station in Germany who gave me a 579 signal report. That was when the antenna was located in my screened-in back porch. I could continue with equally notable reports on 40, 30, and 17 Meters, but now I’m out of space. Nice job. I am quite pleased.
