(COMBO) SML-500-1 "Ghost" Edition + 33 Ft low loss 50 Ohm Coaxial Cable SML-500-1 "Ghost" Edition 17,20,30,40, Meter Bands High Power Multiband Magnetic Loop Antenna (Important: requires an Automatic Antenna Tuner such as an MFJ or LDG. NOT INCLUDED) Easily handles 100 Watts CW, 400 Watts Max SSB. TUNING PROCESSThe process of tuning the antenna for Dx is straight forward and is as follows:1.- Turn OFF the auto-tuner and choose the desired frequency on the Transceiver.2.- Turn on the volume on the transceiver and turn over the capacitor on the antenna and find the spot where maximum noise is heard.3.- Turn on the auto tuner and proceed to auto tune the antenna. This process usually results in a 1:1 swr or very close to it.After this tuning process, when you search for other stations to Dx, you do not need to perform auto tune until you are ready to transmit on a chosen frequency. Once the frequency is chosen, you press auto tune and get your SWR down to 1:1 or very close to it. Then transmit. (If the auto tune does not tune satisfactorily after a frequency change, go back to No.1 above and repeat.) Features: I.-38 Inch Copper loop for 17Mts to 40 Mts II.-Stainless Steel Threaded rods, nuts and washers III.-Translucent enclosed variable air core capacitor IV.- Easy to convert Loop Up with a 36" user provided 3/4 inch PVC pipe Customer feedback: 11/12/2020 I liked your antenna so much I decided to blog about it. Thank you for having such a good product. https://k4mja.blogspot.com/2020/11/testing-small-transmitting-loop-antenna.html Emir. Miami FL 11/21/2018 I Ordered the SML-500-1 Ghost and was thrilled to get it and replace the Buddypole which had not served as my Buddy in my particular configuration. We live in a co-op in a third floor Washington state, near Microsoft and many QRN generators. The Buddypole worked, sort of, in the vertical configuration but noise level was so high that it was almost imposible to have a meaningful QSOs!!. This is where the magnetic loop antennas really shine since they utilize magnetic fields and do not have a dependence on a ground plane. It's the perfect solution for a cramped space (or a cramped space on a balcony in an HOA restricted environment!). I've been amazed at the contacts I've made with this antenna and 100 watts. Japan, the Yukon, The battleship Iowa (NI6BB) in San Pedro among others. Thanks to it's lower noise floor compared to a vertical, I'm able to actually HEAR the stations and conduct a QSO. The SML-500-1 Ghost antenna got me so exited about actually being able to enjoy ham radio again, I bought a new Icom 7300 to use with it!!! Great fun!. Duane Washington State 8/9/2018 I have always been able to FT8 with this antenna but not much luck on SSB until today.I talked with AE2B in Georgia and a few states to the north of you. So I thank you for your guidance, I am running it inside a 3rd story apartment so you can't ask for more than that. Running 100W on TS-480. Thanks again. Brett, Spanish Fork, UT
